We lost over $300 booking this place through booking.com, and I hope this saves someone else money. Despite its 8.3 rating there, what we got wasn't a hotel, or anything like an 8.3 stay. It's an apartment complex, and I'd rate it below 2.0. The listing photos were false representations, nothing like our room. There's no lobby for guests because another business rents it and keeps it closed. You have to enter by taking a concrete ramp down to the basement, then an elevator up. Every time you leave, you walk back up that ramp. There's no staff on site either. You have to call a number when you arrive. Inside, the toilet was six inches from the wall, so I couldn't sit properly and had to turn sideways. There was a ceiling crack that I saw a lizard run into. The bed was a wooden box with a rock-hard, completely unbouncy mattress. We stayed the first night, then lost the remaining 16 because it was so awful. On the phone, the owner bragged about having “lots of experience” dealing with upset booking.com customers. Since this was a “partner” booking, booking.com was no help resolving the situation. Both Spring Hill Apartments and Booking.com should be ashamed of misleading people so obviously. Avoid this place at all costs.
People were left standing on the first floor, unsure what to do, and nearby hotels told us guests often move over from here. Getting in is difficult too: the entrance goes through the basement and up a steep slope that not everyone can manage. Inside, the room was dirty, the furniture was broken, and no one cleaned it for four days. There was no washing machine, and requests went unanswered. The owner cancelled my booking so I wouldn't leave a bad review on booking.com. It feels close to fraud.
The basement parking was a safety worry. Its entrance is steep and slippery, especially in the rain, and the basement was crowded with motorcycles. When our family arrived, there was no receptionist; we were told to contact the hotel on WhatsApp, which felt impersonal and inconvenient. The room was cramped and clearly old, with a persistent cigarette smell. We stayed three nights, and unfortunately it wasn't a pleasant experience.
The view from the window and balcony was just the neighboring building, and the location wasn't great. Still, the rooms were clean and nice, with a comfortable mattress, so I guess it was okay for the price. There was no reception, so you communicate with the owner by chat and with the housekeeper. I had to change rooms because the AC in the first one leaked water, and the second room smelled strongly of cigarettes.
The manager is really kind and always ready to help, and the location is quite good. Just be aware that the ground-floor rooms don't really have windows. Book upstairs and everything should be fine.
