Nicecy Boutique Hotel

My deluxe double room at Nicecy Hotel in District 1, Ho Chi Minh City, was clean, comfortable and well maintained. The AC and TV worked well, and I could watch YouTube. The staff were friendly and helpful, and check-in and checkout went smoothly. There are convenience stores such as Circle K right beside the hotel, plus restaurants and attractions including Ben Thanh Market within walking distance. The location is excellent, and for the price it offers good value if you want a convenient place in the heart of the city.

Sophie was the loveliest part of our stay. She welcomed us, offered useful advice about places to visit and was always sweet-natured and friendly. She's a wonderful representative for the hotel. Give the girl a raise! The hotel was comfortable and well located on a tiny side street that felt like a little oasis from the intense activity around it.

The location was perfect, just a few minutes from many tourist spots. Our first room, though, was dirty, had mold on the wall and no telephone set up. We were told it wasn't supposed to have been sold. We complained, and the staff handled it well by moving us to another room. Special thanks to the gentleman dressed all in black who helped sort it out. The night staff were also very friendly when we checked out the next morning, and checkout was quick and smooth.

The bed was okay, and the room was spacious, but the cleanliness was unacceptable. A strong, foul smell from the bathroom hit us as soon as we walked in and stayed throughout our visit. The shower knob was also very hard to turn and adjust, so controlling the water temperature was difficult. The worst part came at checkout. On our way to the airport, my friend realized she'd left expensive clothes and game cards behind, so we returned immediately. When we went back into the room, her cards were scattered around, suggesting someone had gone through them. She kept asking for her things and wouldn't let it go. Staff first said they hadn't seen the clothes. Only after she pressed the issue did one staff member go to his motorbike outside and take her belongings out of his bag. That's extremely dishonest and unacceptable. Forgotten things might be assumed abandoned, but when a guest comes back for them, staff should be honest and return them at once. Between the poor hygiene and the serious trust issues, I can't recommend Nicey Hotel at all.
