Yen Nam NTT Hotel

It’s clean, remarkably quiet, and good value, with some amazing restaurants nearby. The airport and downtown are both close enough, which made it a great base for getting things done in Saigon. I only wish it had a rooftop pool.

The location was inconvenient for stopping since the hotel is down an alley, and trains pass every few hours. The staff were generally OK and polite, though not everyone spoke English, but they tried. One long-haired girl with a little frizziness was rude and didn’t bother helping with our questions. She talked about us in Vietnamese, which we audio translated. The rooms were considerably clean, but overly perfumed, including the toiletries and bed sheets. It was alright, but I’d give it three stars and no more.

The room was small and basic, and despite the hotel being new, I felt unsafe there. We stayed one night for the location. Some rooms had no-smoking signs, but when I asked to book two rooms without smoking, the receptionist said all rooms were the same and they couldn’t control whether guests smoked, so she couldn’t guarantee they wouldn’t smell of smoke. She didn’t seem to like her job or selling rooms. I booked two rooms for 860,000, but when my mum checked out without me there, the receptionist charged her 950,000. When I confronted her, she claimed she’d returned the difference to my mum. She hadn’t. She invoiced my mum for 950,000 while I was away.
