Paracel Resort Hai Tien

The hotel was pretty decent despite a few issues, but Hai Tien itself is awful, so I wouldn't recommend staying here. The rooms are big, the beds are comfortable, and the A/C works well. Even with huge weekend crowds, the hotel seemed well maintained. Breakfast was surprisingly good, with a decent choice of dishes, and service stayed organized while feeding hundreds of people. WiFi is free, though its speed varied from decent to very slow. There are only four elevators for hundreds and hundreds of rooms, even when the hotel is nearly full, which is nowhere near enough. Water also leaks out under the shower doors and spreads across the floor. Lunch and dinner cost 250k/person, but were bland and overpriced. People kept asking for salt. Although it's called a resort, many activities on site cost extra, including the water park and billiards. The decor has a very Trumpy look, with loads of gold and crystal. It doesn't really affect the stay, but it is pretty tacky. In Hai Tien, music blasts everywhere from around 5 PM until a little after midnight. Even 62-year old women selling coconut ice cream at two-table setups play house music at full volume. There's plenty of loud karaoke too, though I haven't heard much more of it elsewhere in Vietnam. All that noise carries into the hotel, and the rooms stay noisy late into the night. The beach is mostly pointless in the afternoon and evening. When the tide comes in, the water reaches the cement barrier where the shops are, and it's quite dirty then. In the morning, there's an actual beach. It's nothing special, but at least it's there.
