I checked this place out myself after reading the bad reviews, since I’d booked it for the next day and wanted to switch neighborhoods. The staff were kind and tried to help, though the language barrier made things frustrating; after about ten minutes, the receptionist understood and showed me the room. It was spacious enough, clean, and not as awful as people made it sound. But on the stairs between floors, I saw a rat climbing up through holes in the building, and the staff member behind me just laughed. Maybe that’s normal there, but I’m not okay with rats, so I canceled. I know plenty of people would see that as a problem, so I wanted to give a heads-up.

We were first shown a room and asked to wait for it to be ready, then they put us in a different one. It was filthy and moldy throughout. The bedding was clean enough to sleep on, at least, though I still felt uneasy. A complete disaster.

We had booked two nights a week earlier, but when we arrived after a long train ride at check-in time, nobody was at reception. We waited over coffee nearby and came back, still with no one there. After looking around, we found a staff member who said the toilet in our room was broken, so we couldn't stay in it. Everything else nearby was booked, and since we were caught off guard, I asked to see the room anyway. We could have managed two nights without a toilet, but the walls were covered in mold and the room hadn't been cleaned. We found a place next door with a room available just in time. Maybe we caught them on an unusual day, since the reviews don't make it sound like a bad place. Still, from what happened to us, there's a chance your room could be unavailable at the last minute, so be careful.

We showed up after booking and found they'd given our room to someone else. The staff laughed at us and didn't even apologize. Someone else had the same thing happen. Mediocre.
