We didn’t stay in the end. The hotel said there’d been a booking mix-up and offered a different room from the one we’d reserved. What they showed us was completely unlike the room on Booking.com. The advertised features weren’t there: no TV, no view, and the building was in very poor, old-fashioned condition. It felt like false advertising, so be careful before booking.

The booking photos gave us the wrong impression. We reserved a suite with a city view, but were given a different room with mold, a cockroach, a strange smell, and sheets that didn’t seem very clean. The price was low, but we felt misled by pictures that had little to do with reality. We were too busy killing cockroaches to take photos. I’d spend a few euros or dollars more for a proper hotel.

The street is still being renovated, and work is going on at the hotel too. The rooms are okay, though.

We had to push to get a different room, and were initially told none were available. Eventually a new one somehow opened up. It was still basic, but at least had a window. As we were leaving, staff said its AC was broken and moved us again. The third and final room looked more like the online photos, probably the only one that did, but it was smaller than the suite we booked and had no terrace or shared kitchen or living space. We’d reserved a suite with a terrace, views of the city monument and river, and access to those shared areas. Instead, we were first checked into what was essentially a building site, then shown a bare room with its only window blocked from the outside by some kind of board, so hardly any light got in. We went straight back to the “reception” because we thought there’d been a mistake. I expected a rough-around-the-edges building at that price, based on the reviews I’d read. But advertising rooms and facilities that don’t match what you get is unacceptable and shouldn’t be allowed. Be warned.
