The owner is friendly and speaks enough English for basic communication, which is rare around this part of Vietnam. My room was spacious and clean, with fresh sheets and a TV. The hotel is very central, close to plenty of restaurants. It's the best low-budget hotel I've found in Vietnam so far, and I'd definitely recommend it if you're staying in Lai Châu.

For 100k, I'm sure you could find worse. The stay was fine and there weren't any real problems, except a loose fan that fell down at 5am. The walls had some mold, and the TV was an old-school scarf. Cheap and easy.

There are lots of restaurants by the lake, just a 5-minute walk away. It's a good family hotel on a quiet street, with large, clean rooms and a fairly cheap price.
