Bach Duong Hotel

I found this hotel good value for money. It offers motorcycle rentals, and the staff were well behaved and attentive. Breakfast comes as a fixed set menu, but guests can swap it for something else if they don't like the dish. They also allow free early check in when a room is available. The hotel is convenient for getting around Mang Den, with easy access to tourist attractions, and it's a recognizable pickup point for long-distance bus passengers. The facilities cover the basics at a reasonable price. I also appreciated its environmental choices: no plastic water bottles or straws, instead hot and cold water dispensers and eco-friendly amenities.

They seem to care more about money than guests. They were fine with putting 10 people in one room and didn't seem to care that the noise carried on past midnight. I went to reception, but nobody asked them to stop. It seemed they were afraid of getting a dozen bad reviews. Come at your own risk if you want peace and comfort.

The hotel is in Mang Den, but Agoda lists it under Kon Tum, which is an hour's drive away. The location listing is misleading, and the staff seemed unprofessional. They kept my ID when I arrived, although they could have photocopied it. I left early in the morning before receptionists were there, and they forgot to return it. If the hotel is concerned that guests might leave without paying for the minibar or damages, they should just take a deposit at check in. Apart from love hotels, I hardly see hotels in Vietnam holding onto guests' IDs these days. The room looked like the Agoda photos, but the amenities were basic. There was no drinking water in the room, so I had to fill up from the machines in the hallway. The toilet was tiny. To switch off the balcony light, I had to go out into the hallway, and the key card was unreliable. A very hassle-filled stay.

The bed was really comfortable, and the bread was so good! Best hotel in town, with a restaurant and coffee shop too. Highly recommend!
