999 Condotel Muong Thanh Vien Trieu

The room and service were nice for the price, but the noise outside was unbearable. There's a very loud street market right in front of the hotel, with vendors blasting megaphones from morning until night. It felt torturous and made it impossible to sleep. Don't stay here if you want peace and quiet. I can't recommend it.

The breakfast had a big selection, and the room price was reasonable, about $80 AUD for three people. The staff were helpful, too. Our room on the 10th floor was huge, with a side window looking out to sea, and a king bed with a soft, good-quality mattress. It's a 40-story building about 50m from the beach. The room also had a large spa bath, but its drain plug got stuck. I told reception, and the maintenance men came just after I notified them, so I was very impressed with the quick service. The pool is on the 6th floor, along with a small gym. There are eight modern elevators that seem to move without you noticing, but get you where you need to go quickly. I added a view from the breakfast window.

The rooms are spacious, cozy and clean, with comfortable beds and AC, and the staff are friendly. But the breakfast was bad for me personally, with almost no protein apart from boiled eggs at the self-service stalls and an omelet made by the chef. The gym equipment was all rusty, and for a five-star hotel there should be more equipment. The beach towels they gave us were so small they couldn't dry even half my body. For a five-star place, it should be better. I'm giving it four stars because it doesn't deserve the “5 star hotel” title.

The last day’s checkout was the worst part. The receptionist overlooked charges, then contacted me several times by phone and Zalo after I’d left. She said the ironing bill had reached reception late, even though it was for service I used on my first day, and I don’t see why sorting out the bills is my responsibility. Shouldn’t reception get the charges each night? The whole thing felt intrusive and badly handled. That ironing service came up on January 17, when I called Muong Thanh Luxury Vien Trieu Nha Trang to ask about an iron. For a hotel calling itself “luxury,” I was told there wasn’t one and that I’d have to pay for the laundry ironing service. While I was still taking that in, the receptionist hung up mid-conversation. No callback or apology, so I had to call again to say I needed the service right away. The Wi-Fi kept dropping during my stay, and YouTube on the TV was nearly unusable because it kept cutting out. I never saw anyone at reception smile at a guest. Is this really a five-star hotel, or does it just call itself one?
