The staff were genuinely helpful and friendly, and the hotel is in a handy spot near the market, with the beach and most of the city an easy walk away. Check-in was simple, and our room looked clean when we arrived. The buffet breakfast was big, though mostly Vietnamese food; otherwise there was bread, toast and fried eggs. The orange juice was very sweet and tasted more like Fanta than real juice. There were several cleanliness problems. The shower glass looked as if it hadn't been cleaned for ages, and there was a dirty bit of tissue or something on the shower floor. The rooftop pool was green even though people were swimming in it. The mattress was lumpy, and I could feel the springs in my back. The hotel also felt old and not very clean compared with our stay in 2013, which we loved. We could hear everything through the thin walls. A family staying nearby was very loud, then came back around 1:30 a.m. shouting in the corridor and their room, waking us up. Chinese and Vietnamese tour groups use the hotel, and people from those groups smoked in the corridor outside their rooms, leaving it stinking. It's a lovely place in some ways, but it needs a thorough clean and a few repairs. It's a basic hotel at a cheap price, but we won't stay again.
