Mai Am Guest House

I don't stay here, but I often come by for a meal. It's a quiet restaurant, not crowded or noisy, and works well for a family meal. The food is fresh and delicious, around 200k VND per person. We've enjoyed the grilled shrimp, scallops, scallops, scad fish salad, grilled grouper, and sour soup. Whenever I'm back in Mui Ne, I stop in to eat. The owner and her children are friendly and efficient.

Even though we were a big group and ordered plenty of food, the staff were still arrogant and unpleasant. We had to remind them again and again, and they still didn't bring enough. The hotel staff were very rude, and the breakfast staff were just as rude. The room price didn't match the quality.

During Tet (Vietnamese New Year), we stayed for 4 hours and were charged 1.2 million VND for two small rooms, which had no TV. The set meals cost different amounts from what was listed on the menu. Fried eggs were 50,000 VND a plate, and sour soup was 150,000 VND. The husband called those prices reasonable, while the wife said they were exorbitant. There was a lot of price gouging aimed at tourists. We had elderly people and young children with us, so even though we knew we were being ripped off, we felt we had no choice. Very disappointing. We won't be back.

We went there twice in one morning. On the early visit, it wasn't busy, but the vendor was slow to prepare the food, though a few dishes came fairly quickly. The fish cakes had plenty of fish in them. Since I was sick, I could only taste the fish flavor. My mother thought they were okay, while my sister found them too salty. The service felt indifferent. Even when the driver asked about our order, the young waiter didn't come over. Later, the waiter with sparse hair shouted at the woman in the restaurant, saying our table had finished and left without paying. Half our group had left, but my sister was still eating and paid right away. We sat for a long time without anyone checking what we wanted. After we finally ordered, the food still didn't come, and the vendor eventually said they had run out while we'd already been waiting a long time.
