Maison du Vietnam Resort & Spa

We really enjoyed the massage, and the pool was clean, surprisingly large, and had plenty of room to relax with a drink from the bar. Breakfast was tasty with lots of options, including vegetarian food. Having a private bungalow made the stay feel romantic. The hotel could be cleaner, though. It’s also far from everything, but a taxi or a rented scooter makes getting around manageable. Thank you, Maison du Vietnam.

The property may look pleasant, but the hospitality was missing throughout our stay at Maison du Resort, Phú Quốc. The staff came across as indifferent and sometimes rude, from check-in through our daily interactions. Simple requests were ignored or met reluctantly, communication was poor, and concerns were not properly addressed. There was no warmth or effort to make us feel welcome, which I expected from a resort in this category. Staff need better training in guest relations and customer service. I would not recommend staying here unless there are serious improvements to the staff’s attitude and hospitality.

The restaurant was the weak point for me. Since the resort is remote, it’s the only on-site place to eat. I tried the Asian food, which was acceptable but not great, and it was expensive by local standards. Service could be hit or miss. Breakfast had a good range of Asian dishes and an omelette and pancake station, though the 7-9am hours were rough for a night owl like me. Coffee was either filtered or hot with condensed milk. On my first morning it was so sweet I couldn’t drink it. They insisted no sugar had been added and wouldn’t try it after I suggested that several times. For a four-star resort, a bean-to-cup machine seems like a basic investment. Prices should come down or the food and service should improve. That said, I had a great stay. The pool was huge and lovely for swimming, the rooms were spacious, and the traditional buildings look attractive, even if some parts are dated. The front desk ladies were wonderful and helpful, and the cleaning staff were always friendly and respectful. The remote setting also gives the place a peaceful, natural feel.

Manyunia, the little black dog on the grounds, is very friendly, so feel free to bring her a small treat if you see her. The bungalows are beautiful, cozy, and comfortable, and the resort itself is lovely, set in a clean, eco-friendly area. The staff were truly attentive and wonderful.
