Before booking, take a look at the low and negative ratings. They ask guests to book directly instead of through an app, and the staff were very rude and impolite to customers. Hotel owner, please tell your crew to treat people well. Foreigners are guests too. Whether someone pays directly or through an app, they’re still paying for their stay.

Getting to checkout was the happiest part. The curtains looked as if they hadn’t been washed in ages, and the furniture was dusty. We’d booked a non-smoking room, but it smelled strongly of smoke when we arrived, even with the windows left open. That let in a lot of mosquitoes, and when we asked for the room to be sprayed, nothing was done. We spent the night swatting them and could barely sleep.

The rooms on the *02 line sit next to a whole bank of air conditioners, beyond the unit for your own room. I’ve lived in Manhattan for 30 years and sleep with a White Noise machine, but this sounded like being in a jet’s window seat during takeoff. When I asked to switch rooms, they told me to cancel my Trip.com booking and pay them directly.

The location was ideal, and the laundry was both quick and very affordable. Our twin room was spotless, with daily cleaning done to a high standard. Staff were warm and helpful, and their excellent English made everything easy to communicate. Such great value for money, this place made our holiday. I’d happily recommend it.
