Wild Beach Phu Quoc Resort

There was no hot water for a shower. Our bungalow door had no inside lock, so at night I used the hair dryer's cord to tie the sliding door handle to the curtain knob.

I booked three nights but left the morning after my first one, though they didn't charge me for the other two. The airport transfer I'd taken the day before was apparently only for guests staying three or more nights, as they pointed out, even though my booking was non-refundable. I only stayed because it was too late to find somewhere else, especially given how remote the resort is. I think I got bites on my feet overnight. The beach wasn't pleasant: artificial rocks blocked access to the water and rubbish had piled up. A nicer stretch about 50 meters to the left had no umbrella or chairs, and the ones provided were in poor condition. My first room had a significant AC leak, so I was moved. The second seemed fine until large ants started coming out of the bathroom sink after sunset. There was no hot water either. I was told the water is heated with solar power and it had been overcast that day. The resort felt quiet, with few guests: the first room key was rusty, and they weren't sure which key went with the second room. Evenings were dull, since the beach and shared-area lights went off after dinner. They didn't make me pay for the two unused nights.

If nightlife is what you're after, this isn't the place. But for a relaxing stay with a great atmosphere and beach, it's perfect. The location is right on the beach, quiet, and clean. We rented a motorcycle to get around, which was fun. The bungalows are great, with an amazing bathroom and an optional outdoor shower. Food was average, nothing special. Jenny is the heart of the resort, and helped with everything. If you book here and then complain that it's far away, you haven't read the description or you're being ignorant.

The food was really good and affordable, and Jenny, the receptionist and manager, was kind and helpful, always glad to make our stay better. Wild Beach Resort is a calm, quiet place to escape Vietnam's noisy, busy cities. It has a private beach and only about 16 bungalows, so even when fully booked it doesn't feel crowded.
