Cam Thanh Hotel

We keep coming back because we visit my Vietnamese wife's family here, and for personal reasons I need a hotel. After three stays, this is probably still our best option in Quảng Ngãi. The staff have been helpful at every point, from the security guard and bellman to reception, housekeeping, and the breakfast team. It's an old place, but very clean, everything worked for us, and some of the older furnishings have a nice charm. We've never seen bugs in our room or the shared areas on any of our visits. The breakfast suits Vietnamese guests well. Foreigners may need to be flexible, though you can order eggs and choose a side like fried rice. Rooms depend on what mattress you want: the deluxe has the firmer Vietnamese style, while a VIP room with a sitting area and sofa is the option if you want a soft Western style bed. It's called a four-star hotel, but we'd give it five because it's one of the best choices around here and welcomes foreign visitors too.

The place looks dated, and the room corners had bugs. Breakfast was disappointing too, with most things cold, though the fruit was at room temperature and eggs could be cooked fresh. You only get one room key. Nobody greeted us in the lobby or at breakfast, and most of the staff seemed to be sitting around without much to do.

For a smaller hotel, this is the best one I've found downtown in Quang Ngai. It's clean and modern, the staff are friendly, and breakfast is good. The price is good too. I'd recommend it.

It's an established hotel in Quang Ngai, but the facilities are mediocre at best. What else would you expect in a town full of government workers?
