Thiên Trang Hostel

Getting into the city center by Grab takes five minutes and costs 50.000 VND. The view was nice, but the little 2x1m balcony was dirty and smelled of fish from outside during the day. Room 302 had nice interior design, though the floor, towels, bathroom, and windows were dirty, and the room smelled used rather than clean. It seemed like cleaning products hadn't been used, or the room hadn't been cleaned at all. The shower is at the end of the bathroom instead of the middle, so it doesn't wet the whole floor, and there's an extractor. The AC takes a while to cool the room, but eventually works. Free WiFi was acceptable. We could only communicate with staff through Google Translate. We booked through Agoda and felt misled because the room we chose wasn't available, so we couldn't have it. We tried to change rooms, but one on a higher floor wasn't available either.

The sea view was good, and the hostel had some cute, very friendly dogs. They provided soap, and the room was cleaned every day, though not very thoroughly. Our six-person dorm room was large, but the air conditioning wasn't great. In the daytime it got really hot when the weather was hot, while at night, or maybe early morning, I felt cold. I stayed three days and found it hard to rate: about 3.5 stars, maybe a little over 4, but the 5-star scale on Google Maps doesn't feel very fair.
