Phuong Nam Hotel

There are loads of coffee shops nearby, at least five within a couple of blocks, plus several places to do laundry and a megamart around the corner. If you enjoy Vietnamese coffee culture, that’s a nice perk. I’ve stayed here three times in the past two years, most recently during the flower festival. I like walking, and the location put me within less than 1 km of just about anything I’d want to do in the city. The staff were friendly, professional, and helpful, though it took a few interactions for them to get comfortable with me. Check the Wi-Fi in your room when you arrive. I had trouble with it in a corner room. It’s officially a one-star hotel, so think of it as a bed and breakfast without the breakfast, and the value is great. I’d happily stay here again if I return to Sa Dec.

The local massages weren’t exactly “family friendly,” which my wife and I found amusing. The hotel itself was cheap and clean, with a nice little room and great staff. It’s right on the shopping strip, handy for street food, but bring an eye mask.

Nhan. The owner, a lovely lady, had a chat with me and made me laugh. The staff were very nice, and I’d rate the hotel at the top. I’ll come back to Sa Dec if I get the chance.

We had a fun day out on the motorbike, crossing the river. The building has a lovely staircase and ceiling roses, and the staff were very helpful.
