Pao's Sapa Leisure Hotel

Room 625 is worth recommending. It’s spacious and beautifully designed, with a large bathtub looking out on a small private garden. Having unlimited hot water was especially nice in the cold. We arrived for our first trip to Sa Pa in thick fog and chilly weather, but the staff made us feel at home right away. Service was excellent throughout. Breakfast was another highlight, with fresh, tasty local Vietnamese, Asian, Indian, and Western options. At checkout, we realized too late that we needed to arrange transport to our bus pickup point in advance. The receptionist kindly sorted it out with only 20 minutes to spare. The hotel made our Sa Pa trip unforgettable, and already feels like a home away from home. We’re sure to return for another winter trip. Thanks to the whole team for the warm care.

The buffet breakfast had lots of delicious choices, and the staff were friendly and attentive. We also found the dining area and toilets very clean, with plenty of lovely spots for photos. Ai Linh’s Restaurant is a beautiful, elegant place for a quiet, romantic meal. It serves Western and local Vietnamese food at reasonable prices, similar to restaurants outside but with a much better experience. The view of Moana Cafe and the famous Sapa rice terraces makes dining here special. We had a wonderful meal and highly recommend it to anyone visiting Sapa.

The staff were amazing, and checking in at 3 am was no problem. Breakfast was nice, though about what you’d expect at any 4 star hotel. The room amenities were excellent, and I had a good experience at the sport gym, which was empty and had water. But this isn’t really a spa hotel, and it didn’t feel like a 5 star experience. The free public spa was closed for maintenance during our stay, something we weren’t told before booking. That should be mentioned. The pool room was very damp, so relaxing on the nearby chairs wasn’t really possible. It also got very noisy when kids jumped around all parts of the pool, including the adults’ area, despite the hotel having separate kids’ and adults’ sections. The staff were adorable, but told me other customers wouldn’t want them to intervene. At a 5 star hotel, guests should behave or be asked to leave those areas. In winter, you probably won’t get much of a view from the balcony most days. :)

The staff were helpful and professional, and both breakfast and room service were great. We only stayed one night when we first arrived in Sapa, and found the hotel a little out of the way. It’s a bit far from the center, and although our room was meant to have a valley view, overgrown trees blocked most of it from the balcony. For a 5 star hotel I expected a higher standard, as some facilities felt dated. The top floor bar was basic, and the pool was poor: cold water, limited views, and a very small changing room with tiny lockers and almost no privacy. Considering we paid more than at other hotels in the area, we were a little disappointed.
