Sinai Bungalow & Hotel SaPa

We stayed for two nights in these nice, quiet bungalows halfway up the hill, with comfortable beds. There are plenty of steps to walk down and back up. To get to Sa Pa center you’ll need transport, but a taxi can arrive in about 10 minutes and costs 100 Kd. If you want a peaceful hotel, this is the place.

Three nights here were such a good experience. The staff were great, the food was delicious, the view was stunning, and the pool table was in amazing condition. The rooms are spacious and warm up quickly. Beds are a little hard, so they might not suit you if you have a sensitive back. Thanks, team, see you next time :)

We arrived very early on a sleeper bus from Hanoi, and the staff kindly let us wait inside reception. Check-in didn’t start until 1 pm, so we rented a scooter there while waiting. The receptionist was friendly, spoke excellent English, and sorted everything fast. We were exploring Sapa within 15 minutes. Bungalow No. 9 was a dream, with wild nature views and peaceful surroundings. The uphill walk to reception was the one downside. If, like me, you’re not in great shape, ask for a bungalow nearer the reception. Breakfast was decent, though the choice was limited to things like a sandwich or an egg and sausage plate. Listening to the rain from our bungalow while soaking in a hot bath was wonderful. We had an amazing stay, definitely a top 10 experience!

We stayed during a peak Vietnam holiday period without realizing how busy it would be. After trekking all day, we planned to catch an 11:00pm bus. Around 6:00pm, Grab was already hard to get, but a lobby staff member helped me find one to go for a massage. After dinner and the massage, I returned around 7:30 and asked the host, a woman with glasses, to arrange a taxi for about 10:00pm. She mostly complained that we should have gone earlier and blamed us for not knowing it was a holiday and Grab cars were busy. When I asked how she could help, she called taxi drivers in front of me with a very bad attitude and an unpleasant expression. We eventually got a taxi that came at 8:30. She said all drivers were busy and she’d put in “too much” effort to call one. But at the bus station I saw customers arriving in different taxis, and only a few seemed to be Grab. I asked around, and three groups said their hotels had arranged taxis because Grab was impossible to get. I was really disappointed. She could have arranged one for us without blaming us so heavily. Since we had to leave at 8:30, we reached the station at 9:00 and waited in really cold weather until 11:30 for the bus. People on my bus arrived around 10:30 to 11:00. She also had a bad attitude when we asked her to make up the room. I felt she didn’t treat us the way she treated other “white” customers. Shouldn’t Asians receive the same treatment? There are many other beautiful bungalow homestays, and you don’t have to choose one with a host like this. I mean only the host, the woman with glasses and short hair. The other staff were very helpful and nice. Her treatment ruined the end of my whole Sapa trip.
