Pullman Vung Tau

The room was spacious and well designed, and the hotel has a modern, attractive feel. The coffee was good and the fresh juices were a highlight. Still, the sofa had visible stains and the bedside lamp was dusty, so housekeeping seemed inconsistent. After a long journey from Hanoi to Ho Chi Minh City, including a flight delay and several hours in a taxi to Vung Tau, we arrived tired and hoped for a smooth check-in. We’d booked two rooms for two adults and a 17-year-old through Hotels.com, paying on arrival. Reception printed separate invoices and assigned rooms far apart without first asking whether we wanted to pay together or have the rooms near each other. We had to explain both preferences, and the arrangements were changed. It was resolved, but a more professional front desk would have checked with us first. For a Pullman hotel, this stay fell far short of expectations. The good room design couldn’t make up for the service and communication problems, and I wouldn’t recommend it based on our experience.

Breakfast has plenty of choices and is solid, and the lounge is very good if you have access through status or an executive room, or pay 709K VND pp. The fitness center is okay, though it could use more equipment. There’s also a kids room near the breakfast area, hint, hint. The lobby is impressive, and the rooms are large, clean, and in excellent shape. There’s a steam room and sauna beside the outdoor pool on the second floor, and many rooms look out over the ocean. The staff are spot on, which reflects good management. Seafood restaurants are across the street, and the beach is a short walk away, with a free hotel shuttle as well. They’re finishing a small outdoor entertainment area that should be ready for Tet 2026. A shopping center is nearby. Great value, highly recommended.

Breakfast service was superb, with lots of choices and the taste you’d expect from Pullman. The hospitality was lovely, and the service attentive. The rooms are big, clean, and comfy, though the pillows are too soft. It would be good to have a couple of pillow types to choose from. You can walk to the beach, and Lotte Mart is close for shopping. The hotel itself doesn’t have many attractions and gets very quiet in the afternoon. Still, it’s my first choice when I’m back in Vung Tau.

We hired one of the hotel’s scooters, which made it easy to get around the sights. You really need transport unless you plan to take taxis everywhere. Being close to the beach was great, and the monuments lit up at night look awesome. The spacious, nicely paved beachfront walk goes on for miles, with skating areas and people singing and doing other things. A very nice hotel. The facilities were good, from breakfast and dinner to the pool and gym. The Vietnamese people were always willing to help and please. The rooms were lovely, and executive rooms offer a little extra, though the furnishings could use an update. My one gripe, and it’s not just about The Pullman, is the lack of fresh pasteurised milk. Highlands Coffee uses it, and you can buy it in 1 litre cartons from the local shop fridge, so why don’t the big hotels? UHT milk is common but doesn’t taste nice, especially in a cappuccino or latte.
