Going straight from the colourful infinity pool to the white sand and blue water full of colourful fish and coral was such a treat. Breakas beach Vanuatu really wow’d us. From the moment we arrived, there were welcoming people everywhere and a tropical feel unlike anywhere else. Everything was spotless, and the facilities exceeded what we expected. The staff and service were unmatched, while the food and range of drinks kept us happy and giggling through the stay. If you want a romantic getaway with soul satisfying experiences, we highly recommend it. Thank you, Breakas beach resort. We’ll be back! Love Justine and Tami.

We came away feeling recharged and grateful. The adults-only atmosphere kept things wonderfully calm, and everyone on staff was kind and welcoming, always going out of their way to make us feel at home. Breakas Resort feels like a little paradise. The private beach is beautiful for relaxing or snorkelling, and we saw so many colourful fish right off the shore. The food was delicious, with so much care in the details. Thanks to Head Chef Paolo for consistently fresh, flavourful dishes, and to Cynthia for her warmth and hospitality. We’d happily recommend Breakas to anyone visiting Vanuatu, and we’ll definitely return.

The good parts first. It’s child free, the food was really great and the cocktails were well made. Staff were friendly and helped a lot when I needed to go to hospital. Ernest was especially great during our stay. If you’re polite, you get good service back, and I don’t think the negative reviews about him reflect who he is. There were beach chairs and umbrellas along the shore. The snorkelling out front was decent, and we saw dugongs and turtles. Currents can be strong unless the sea is completely calm, so know your abilities and take responsibility for your own safety. Don’t overestimate what you can do or expect other guests to rescue you. Fins won’t necessarily get you out of trouble. When our roof leaked over the bed and soaked the mattress in the middle of the night, we were moved quickly. The biggest frustration was access to the facilities we’d paid for. From 5 each day, a large part of the pool area was taken over for dining, leaving little room to use it. On event nights or buffet dinners with shows, guests couldn’t use the resort facilities without paying over $150 AUD for dinner. We heard from many people who went to other restaurants on new years and were told to stay in their rooms when they came back. Six couples told us they spent new years in their rooms. Guests have paid for the facilities throughout their stay, so having the time cut short or losing access altogether was disappointing. The extra $70 fee didn’t seem fair on top of an already decent nightly rate. Some fares along the far fence line didn’t feel private, with a see-through fence beside a busy local track. Fares near the locals’ swimming spot also had people from outside the resort sitting on their balconies when guests returned. On our last night, someone climbed onto our roof and tried to break in through the shower. They stopped when my husband woke and turned on all the lights, including outside. There are guards, but they can’t be everywhere. Keep the bathroom doors locked and valuables in the safe. My husband didn’t tell me until we’d left because he knew I’d be scared. There were also big groups of drunk people in the breakfast area at 7am on a day that wasn’t a public holiday. They weren’t resort guests and were still drinking cruisers, beer and wine, which made it uncomfortable. The music was way too loud at first, though it was turned down to a nice level in the last couple of days. We understand new years was loud and appreciate the party, but sometimes it was too much early in the day.

Dinner was fantastic every night, and a big thank you to the chefs. Cindy deserves a special mention too. She looked after me at dinner each night, made me feel special, and gave fantastic service throughout our stay. Those personal touches make a real difference. Thanks so much to Cindy and the team. Mel and Kylie ❤️
