Black Pearl Resort

I never got to stay because Air Vanuatu went into receivership after I booked, and now Black Pearl won’t refund my money. Hospitality should mean caring about guests, not just taking their money. The resort may be fantastic, but I’ll never know. Based on the customer service alone, I can’t recommend it.

The beach on the right was much easier for snorkeling than the one on the left. We were visiting from a cruise and wanted somewhere to swim, eat, and relax, so we called first to check that we could come. The service was great, and we had a couple of pizzas for lunch. They were expensive, though we could pay in AUD.

We had a great day here after arriving from the cruise ship. Entry was free when we bought lunch, and the snorkeling was great. Bring your own gear or hire some there, though I don’t know the rental price. If you want lobster, order as soon as you arrive because they will run out. It’s caught fresh. A local taxi from the terminal cost us $20 each way for four people. The toilet and shower are basic, but enough for a day trip. Wi-Fi works near the bar, while phone reception is terrible. We’ll be back. Thanks for a great day. And don’t forget your ship beach towel.

I was more relaxed than I’ve been in years during our two weeks at Black Pearl in August 24. Ivo and Annie are such lovely hosts, and the food was outstanding. We’re already planning to come back. Thanks again!
