We had a wonderful, peaceful honeymoon at Barefoot, and the team made us feel cared for from before we even arrived. Our start was rough: Google Maps and Waze sent us on what looked like the quickest route from KwaNojoli to Bracefield along the R335. The long dirt road turned into a very bad rocky one, and our car hit a big rock and broke down 1.5hrs (70km) from the lodge. Moffat organized help, and Kendra and Sheridan went out of their way to collect us and our luggage, bring us safely to the lodge and help us settle in. Chandre welcomed us and was a friendly face throughout the stay. We relaxed with a full body Swedish massage from the very sweet Oxilia, admired the views from our room, and spent time in the lounge and by the pool. The food was amazing, Olivia checked on us at meals and we had lovely conversations with her, and our room was always looked after and refreshed. After a busy end of year and wedding preparations, the remote setting helped us slow down and enjoy the natural surroundings. The whole team made it special, and we can’t wait to visit again. Thank you all for looking after us so well.

The chalets at Barefoot Addo Elephant Lodge are spacious and stylish, and sit beautifully among the natural surroundings. Waking up to the sounds of the bush was unforgettable. The staff were warm and attentive from the moment we arrived, and you could tell they cared about making our stay memorable. Every day’s food was a highlight, beautifully prepared and full of flavour. A fantastic stay that exceeded my expectations for comfort, luxury and service in the heart of Addo. Highly recommended.

We watched elephants and giraffes grazing right from our chalet, and seeing giraffes wander through camp felt surreal. The meals were a highlight too, top notch and full of flavour. Staff were fun, attentive, friendly and genuinely caring from the moment we arrived. The drive in is challenging, but with patience and a bit of adventure it becomes part of the trip. The views are beautiful, and they advise you about the conditions beforehand so you can prepare. “When in Africa” 😅 Barefoot Addo Elephant Lodge made for a memorable mix of nature, comfort and warm hospitality. Highly recommended for an Addo getaway.

Seeing the elephants was incredible, easily the highlight of our stay. Breakfast and dinner were included, and dinner was especially lovely. Lunch, though, felt expensive for what you get, and given the lodge’s location I wish it had been included. The accommodation could use some attention, as we noticed maintenance issues despite the 4 star rating. The outdoor bath and shower are unusual, but not very practical for families. A hot tub would work better. The elephant experience made the stay unforgettable, though the facilities could be improved.
