ATKV Klein-Kariba

The animals are a real treasure, and they’re so used to people. The area and atmosphere are beautiful too. Some houses are showing their age, with patio roofs that leak, broken locks and old light switches that make the lights flicker. It could be such a relaxing place if the leaf blowers weren’t roaring from six in the morning until six in the evening.

January 2026. I had an amazing five days at Klein Kariba resort. The bathrooms, scullery and campsite were clean, and all the staff were friendly, from the security guards onward, who were so helpful. I loved hiking, following the clear trail walk guide, and taking in the beautiful mountain views while connecting with nature and wildlife. I’m looking forward to going back soon, hopefully at Easter, and getting ATKV membership.

A great place for families, though the rooms need maintenance. The pools were a little too hot for me, even the medium-heat one, and the cold pool was too far from the kids’ play area.

The camping part of our stay was a disaster, although the camping-ground staff were fantastic. The cleaners and workers were amazingly helpful, especially Africa. The check-in office staff were very rude, though, and so was one man at the underground pools. They’re meant to close at 22:00, but he switched them off around 21:30-21:45. When we asked why, he ignored us. We also saw him being rude to other people during our stay. My family stayed in the chalet, and we had no complaints about the rooms except for small, hidden floor steps we kept tripping over. There were lots of apes at the campsite, but that’s understandable since the mountains are their home. My girlfriend, her mother and her friend all got burned in the swimming pool. The chemicals seemed too strong or there was too much added, and we weren’t the only ones burned. When I called the office to raise the concern and maybe warn them about a possible chemical issue, they didn’t take me seriously. They spoke to me like I was a regular complainer. It was fun, though. I love the vibes.
