We enjoyed our stay at Golden Lantern. When we were in need, they were so accommodating, and nothing was too much trouble. The clean, neat accommodation made the experience memorable. The lady at reception went out of her way to help us. I’d recommend The Golden Lantern to all my friends anytime.

The communal space worked really well, with a pool table, seating, extra kitchen facilities, a swimming pool, and toilets. It had a traditional feel, with quirky furniture and artifacts to look at in the sunshine. I loved how things had been recycled into useful furniture and lovely decorations. Our rooms were extremely spacious, spotless, and had everything we needed to be self-sufficient. My family and I stopped at The Golden Lantern at the start of our road trip, and the friendly, helpful staff made us feel at home straight away. We had a fabulous four days and could have stayed longer, since there was still so much to see and do. Bela-Bela is a tourist destination, ideally placed for a weekend getaway from Johannesburg and Pretoria, but it’s also a great way to see everyday life in a small South African town. It’s a handy stop before Kruger National Park or a trip further north. I’d highly recommend The Golden Lantern for its convenience to Johannesburg Airport and everything the area offers, whether you’re backpacking, staying overnight, or exploring for a few days. It has everything you need.
