We had a really nice, comfortable evening during our one-night stay, and the staff were friendly. We were in studio B. The internet could be better, and air conditioning plus a better bed would make the rooms a five.

The quiet setting and location were a big part of why I came back to The Minimalist. On my first visit in 2023 I stayed in Studio B, and I’d promised myself another break there in the new year. This time I had Studio 101. Mr Albert made a great first impression again. He’s welcoming, quick to help, and offered to show me the other rooms that were vacant. That tour was what convinced me to return. The property is simple but attractive, with a small pool. Both times I visited, I had the communal pool area to myself, though I usually book off-peak, so that may be why. Food and grocery deliveries are easy to arrange, and the arrival snacks and slippers are a nice touch. There’s an off-grid setup for loadshedding, and panel heaters and electric blankets for cold weather. Studio 101 has a microwave and sink in its kitchenette. There’s no air conditioning for hot days, although a ceiling fan is provided. The smart TV has popular streaming services. Studio 101 is beside the upkeep and maintenance staff quarters, so chatter outside the window can interrupt the quiet at times. I also found a mismatch between the room advertised on The Minimalist’s website and the one I booked. I raised it with the owner, who said they’d resolve the website issue. The amenities listed for Studio 101 were confusing too: it has no stove, despite the listing suggesting otherwise. It was still a lovely stay and one I’d recommend, as long as you check what’s included. The location worked especially well for me.
I wanted a quiet weekend away for my birthday, and my partner picked just the right place as a surprise. It’s so peaceful here, a lovely spot to unwind and tune out the noise for a while.
The artistic style runs through the rooms, and the whole stay felt beautiful. In the summer heat, the water sounds and birdsong brought a real sense of calm. James was kind, helpful, and accommodating. I’d come back.
I needed somewhere affordable and safe to spend the night at short notice, with internet that actually worked. George, the owner, helped me out quickly. The rooms are stylish and very high quality, and the staff were genuinely friendly and courteous. The connection was fast and reliable, around 50 Mbps, and there were backup options for loadshedding. It’s a great fit for digital nomads. I’d happily recommend the place and return anytime. The advertised photos reflect what you get, so I haven’t added any of my own. George really is a SUPER host.
