This didn’t feel like four-star accommodation. The small single room, which I believe was one of their smaller rooms, had a cheap, frilly feel. A dressing screen of some sort separated the toilet, while the bath and shower were less than a metre from the left side of the bed. They charged us for breakfast but didn’t provide it because we had to leave early for a stopover. We left at 07:00, apparently too early. They also billed my credit card a second time, for a different amount, the day after we left. I wouldn’t trust them with card details.

The room was large and breakfast was hearty, with good service. It’s in a nice, quiet residential area. The downside was that the Wi-Fi didn’t reach our room. It would also be better if the bathroom were separate from the five-sleeper bedroom.

Room 4 had nothing going for it, and I’m not sure this is even close to three stars, let alone four. The partition was some kind of cloth, so we could clearly hear people talking in the other rooms. The shower pressure was so weak that showering wasn’t enjoyable. I was led to expect better by the positive reviews, unless we were given the wrong room.

Your staff and you were the best part, ready to help even very late at night. The rooms stayed warm while Bloem was freezing, and the breakfast was lekker. I had the same thing both mornings because I liked it so much. Thanks for the lovely place and the warm Free State welcome. I’ll surely return.
