Elrido Guest Lodge

The male owner was horribly rude when we complained. He talked about standards that just weren't there, and the staff were lazy and didn't even look presentable for a place that's supposedly meant to have standards. Breakfast was a zero out of ten, dry bread and viennas. Those were the worst five weeks of my life.

The rooms looked nice, and the staff were friendly and helpful. There's real potential here, but it needs more care. Upkeep and maintenance need attention.

On my work trip, I really enjoyed spending the night at Elrido Guest Lodge. It was clean, and the staff were friendly. I loved the location, which made me feel like I wasn't in the city of Bloemfontein. A great spot, and one I'd recommend for leisure as well.

We had a lovely stay at Elrido Lodge a year ago, so when we needed a place last week, we booked there without looking elsewhere. We were looking forward to returning, but this visit was a real disappointment. I called a few days beforehand to ask for a receipt to submit at work for a refund, but it still hasn't arrived. The day before we came, I completed the online check-in form and was assigned room 1. When we arrived, the lady told us that room was already occupied and put us in room 2, overlooking the parking area. The coffee plunger still had coffee from its previous use and hadn't been washed. Water drained badly in the shower, leaving you standing in it, and the bathroom extractor fan didn't work. The TV remote was dead, and a loose wall socket by the bed didn't work and could potentially be a fire hazard. We got the impression they were understaffed. The same lady who checked us in was working in the kitchen and serving breakfast the next morning. At least the bed was comfortable, but after this experience we unfortunately won't be returning to Elrido.
