South Hill Guesthouse

We’ve been in the Overberg for 15 years and only came across South Hills by chance. What a lovely find. They welcomed us and our fur kids so warmly, and the meal and service were both superb. I’ve got a new favourite wine too, the Malbec served slightly chilled. Such a wonderful afternoon, thank you.

We ate like royalty at the Thursday special. Godfrey was a fantastic host, and dinner was absolutely fantastic. If you’re nearby, pop in!

I only stopped in for a light starter salad and a glass of really good rosé, both of which I enjoyed. The country setting is lovely, the staff were friendly, and the artwork caught my eye. I didn’t stay there, but it seems like a great place for family gatherings, staff retreats or weddings. Service was excellent, and the menu has a good variety I’m looking forward to trying when I come back. Next time I’d also like to do the hike and vineyard maze. It’s peaceful and tucked away.

We came across this gem after the winter wine festival at Elgin railway market. The wines were so easy to drink that they were all the reason we needed to stop. We asked the owner about lunch the next day for our wedding anniversary, and they were incredibly welcoming and accommodating. Great views, food, people and wines.
