First Group Gethlane Lodge

There were plenty of animal sightings, and the staff gave us personal attention. It was a lovely stay overall, and I'd like to return sometime. A few things were inconsistent: upstairs in unit 33 there was no hot water, and housekeeping didn't bring toilet paper.

The resort itself is beautiful, but that was about the only good part. Elmond was the only person who helped us. The kitchen staff were unfriendly and gave poor service. The jacuzzi we'd booked wasn't hot and was faulty, and although we booked spa treatment for 2pm, we weren't seen until 9pm. Our rooms weren't cleaned, we didn't get fresh towels, and in the extreme heat the resort had no ice.

We spent four days here. The walking trail was amazing, with stunning views, and there was lots to do, including places to visit nearby. The facilities were great, and staff did everything they could to make sure we were comfortable. The food was okay.

The Lodge is beautiful and our stay was wonderful overall, so we hope to return with friends soon. The gravel road to get there is a nightmare and really needs attention. The bar and kiosk were always closed. We were told to pay R150 to use other facilities, but the bicycles, pool table, and other items weren't in good condition and couldn't be used. That left us unhappy.
