The stay at Soeterus made our weekend exactly what we needed: a memorable chance to slow right down. In the morning, Olivia and George served a delicious breakfast while sharing their local knowledge. We watched the sheep, goats and spring bokke being fed, then spent time chatting, reading, or looking out over the animal pens and fields towards the distant mountains as twilight came in. The barn sized lounge, pub and dining hall had four fireplaces and leather sofas, and the rural quiet was a welcome change from our devices. Our cosy room was clean, with quality bedding, electric blankets and, as a lovely welcome, chocolates and a carafe of local port. After heavy snow on the Swartberg, those blankets were especially welcome. Getting the booking was quite a saga. I'd wanted to attend the "Vettie" Fees even before Covid, but after Covid and trying to rebuild my business, I forgot about it until an email notice arrived two weeks ago. Finding a place just before the event meant a marathon of online searching, messages and calls. After 15 attempts and contacting places farther out of town, I finally booked with Olivia. We would have had an interesting visit to Calitzdorp regardless, but staying with such companionable hosts made the whole weekend.

I wish we'd had more time to relax here, two nights just wasn't enough. The rooms felt warm and inviting, the property was gorgeous, and the service was extraordinary. Breakfast was the best I had on my trip. This charming, cosy B&B is a great base for the Eden District's scenery, landscapes and routes. Highly recommend!

I was a guest at a wedding here. Awesome venue.

That desert quiet is wonderful, seriously. The hosts were lovely, the food was great, and I slept in a really comfy, peaceful place. I woke in the night and spotted a giant cape eagle owl by the pool. We're from Hawaii, so we also really appreciated how long the pool was. Highly recommended!

Olivia made me, a picky vegetarian, a breakfast fit for a king, complete with asparagus. I rarely expect much from B&B breakfasts, so that was a lovely surprise. My girlfriend and I only got to spend one night at George and Olivia's working farm. They're attentive, lovely people who took care of everything we needed. I absolutely recommend Soeterus and their animals.
