106 on Adderley Accommodation

The hotel was clean and in a handy spot in Cape Town’s city bowl. But the rooms had no air conditioning or ventilation, and that made the stay really unpleasant.

The room was neat and clean, but I hadn’t realized this was part of the student accommodation. Parking turned out to be a hassle and cost extra. It was loud and droning, which I can understand for student housing, but at this price I could have stayed at a backpackers for a fraction of the cost. The heat was sweltering, with no fan and not enough airflow from the windows. I only received the WiFi details by email close to midnight. I’d expected a better setup for getting some business work done. That’s my take from a business perspective.

This will be my third year here, and I’ve enjoyed my time. The accommodation is really nice, the people are welcoming, and it feels secure. My room is clean, and I’m very comfortable here. Thanks, student at home, for making my experience a good one.

There was food smell in the hallways, and the place was noisy. Parking was hard to access. There were many refugees around the hotel, and walking at night felt dangerous. Police dropped bombs of moral effect to drive the crowd away. It was terrifying. During our stay there was a dawn parade on the hotel street, and nobody warned us. We couldn’t drive back, so we had to walk at night. The noise went on until 4am. We complained and checked out a day early, but got no compensation for the inconvenience.
