We paid over R4500+ for a place that badly needs renovating, and it felt like a rip off. The furniture was old and uncomfortable, there wasn’t enough crockery or cutlery, and getting extra from the store was a mission. DSTV didn’t work, the bathrooms were shabby, and the advertised free toiletries weren’t there. The whole building felt neglected. The car park was filthy and crawling with rats, the corridors weren’t clean, and big, smelly bins were left by the very antiquated lifts. Inside the apartment, people below kept complaining about noise even though we walked barefoot and were hardly there except to sleep.

We arrived at 10pm after calling at 4pm to give our ToA, and were told there was an extra charge for checking in after 8pm, even though the website says check-in closes at 12am. Parking fees also came up after the breakage deposit had been paid. When we questioned the extra charges, the person at reception said we were basically staying for free and should just pay. They also called us unreasonable, racist con artists trying to push management around. The reception was rude from the start, and the room was below par. The bedding seemed dodgy, there was no heating or aircon, and drafts came through the poorly sealing windows. The furniture was low quality, and the elevator was broken much of the time, so we mostly used the service elevator or stairs.

The ocean view is lovely, and it’s easy to get to everyday necessities. The receptionists and management feel like family, and there’s always a nice smell as you come and go. Wishing everyone lots of love and success in the future.

The place itself is amazing, but there was only one towel, so my partner and I had to share it. When I asked for my deposit back, they said there had been more than 4 towels in the room and charged that against my deposit. That felt unfair.
