We had been looking forward to our apartment stay, but a family medical emergency meant we had to leave Cape Town a week before the booking. The host said we could get a refund if the place was booked again, yet after we saw that it had been rebooked, there was still no refund or message. We asked for all or even part of the payment back and were refused. We gave as much notice as we could, and now it seems the property has been paid for twice because we had to cancel due to the emergency.

The customer care was poor, and the offices were far from the property. There was no housekeeping or rubbish collection, and there were no bins at the property or on the road. The mattress covers were dirty, appliances were broken, the pool was dirty, and the lights didn’t work. The security deposit wasn’t mentioned in the booking: I was meant to pay R1000.00 but paid R2000.
