The guest house has a spacious living room where people can gather, and it’s conveniently close to the Seapoint Boardwalk. The owner and staff were friendly and helpful, and breakfast, which was included, was delicious each day. Both the bedrooms and bathrooms were large, though a little dated. I had a very nice stay and would recommend this accommodation.

The staff were the highlight, especially Kim, who was wonderful. I’m grateful for his kindness, warmth and valuable help during our stay. They even have a laundry bag for dirty clothes, and by the next morning your clean clothes are back on the bed. The location was perfect, and both the room and outdoor area were beautiful and clean. Breakfast was very good too. I can only recommend this hotel!

Sundown Manor is close to the bars and restaurants on the main strip, just a block away, and two blocks from the seafront. It’s handy if you want to walk, socialize and go out, while still being far enough from the traffic and revellers to avoid the noise. We stayed in room 10, on the lower level facing the pool. The bedroom had a very large bed, a comfortable armchair and a desk with tea-making supplies. There was a freestanding fridge, an air-conditioning unit, tall, wide wardrobes along the back wall, and a safe bolted low on the wall beside the bed. The TV was mounted above the air-conditioning unit. At the back, the large bathroom had a wide sink and mirror, a toilet to the left and a huge walk-in shower. Everything was spotless and very well maintained. The house itself is beautifully furnished and cared for, with a secure split-level courtyard. The lower level has a small pool and a raised sun terrace. Off the main hallway is a big, comfortable lounge, with the dining area at the back leading to the food servery and kitchen. Beyond those is a covered, open-air dining terrace on the first floor. Breakfast was great, with hot and cold buffet options and plenty of tea and coffee. The staff were so welcoming and friendly that it felt like catching up with old friends. Jerry, the owner, is lovely. I suspect he did a lot of the work that went into creating such a great place.

The communal lounge is gorgeous, with a lovely couch and an honesty bar, and breakfast was a treat. We especially liked the fruit, omelette and mushrooms. We really enjoyed our stay. The hotel’s location is the best part, right by Sea Point’s main street with its cafes and restaurants. Beaches with pools and rocky spots for watching the sunset are also close by.
