Albatross Guest house

It was so quiet there, which made it easy to relax and get a good night's sleep. The guest house was spotless and comfortable from the moment I arrived, and everything seemed carefully looked after. I'd definitely suggest it to anyone wanting a peaceful, clean place to stay.

We left after just one night, even though we had planned to stay six. The glass door in our room looked like it had been broken before, and its replacement lock was loose, so we didn't feel safe. The amount of security around the property made us feel even more uneasy. Nobody asked why we were leaving or offered a refund.

The room was spacious, tidy, and well maintained, and the location between Sea Point and Bantry Bay is excellent. That was about all I liked. The property felt very dark and had no warmth, so I didn't look forward to coming back at night. DsTV and the “Hi speed” WiFi weren't working, and I had to use my own data for most of my two nights. The pool is small, and during a busy holiday period maintenance workers were using it. There wasn't much seating either, just a small plastic chair without a cushion. A lounger would've made more sense. When I put the “Do Not Clean” sign on the door, I came back to find it moved inside my room. My arrival was acknowledged briefly, then the owner dropped off my bag with hardly any conversation. I didn't feel welcomed, and ended up leaving early. The place was only somewhere to sleep for me. I've also seen other reviews' negative feedback labelled as “spam.” This review isn't spam. The guest house has potential if it takes the idea of a welcoming “home away from home” stay seriously.

We had a comfortable bed in a clean room, and the staff were warm and helpful. They even made an extra effort to meet our needs. Highly recommend it.
