PRIVATE ROOM in Shared Apartment - Centrally Located in Green Point, Cape Town

The chef’s salad was very good, though I wished it had a bit more dressing or balsamic vinegar. There was nobody around to ask. The rest of dinner was really below average, which made it less surprising that I was the only person in the restaurant when I walked in. Service was poor. The waitress was either nowhere to be seen or on her phone, and I felt like I was interrupting her. The butter was frozen, the bread roll had been heated in a microwave, and my Americano came with milk already mixed in. The food tasted as if it had been sitting in containers too long. I won't be going back.

The front desk and housekeeping staff were warm and welcoming, and there’s a small rooftop pool with an unusual design. The newer property is clean and modern, in a decent spot for a walk along the oceanfront. The busy waterfront is about 1.6 km away, with plenty of shops and restaurants there. The rooms are cramped. The desk chair makes the gap between it and the bed's foot a toe hazard, and the shower is tight enough to watch your elbows and head. The bathroom light brightens the whole room, and there’s no night light.

The hotel and rooms themselves are stunning and great, but the service made this a terrible experience for my family and me. On the first day we were greeted by very friendly staff. After they went on leave and a new shift came in, staff made it clear they weren't happy to work over the festive period and seemed to treat guests as a burden.

I travel worldwide for business, and this was the worst hotel service I've ever had. My room was still unserviced when I went to bed. I arrived at 9:30 pm the night before and, tired, put up the Do Not Disturb sign. When I left at 13:10, I put out the Clean Up sign. I returned at 6 pm to find the room untouched and called reception. They said housekeeping would come, but at 21:44 it still hadn't been done. Do not stay here.
