Apostle Rocks

I booked this little holiday through Groupon for my mother, my aunt, and me, after calling Hideaway head office several times to ask about Apostle Rocks' facilities. My mother and aunt had never been on a holiday like this before, and I thought it would be a nice break for them. I was wrong. Another couple had similar problems and left when we did. We left as soon as we woke up on the 9th, and I still can't believe we had such a terrible holiday in Llandudno, which we know as a lovely place. I sent this review to Hideaway about a month ago and still haven't heard back. The Groupon pictures showed a beautiful place, but the actual accommodation looked nothing like them and was badly maintained, with marks, cockroaches, and drawers hanging loose. We found cockroaches in the cupboard with the toaster. The listing mentioned a swimming pool and two jacuzzis, but we couldn't use them because the people in the main house didn't want anyone swimming there. The caretaker couldn't go into that house for religious reasons, though his wife could. Guests should be told whether those facilities are actually available to everyone. We checked in at 2 pm and were greeted kindly by the caretaker's wife. She said her husband had gone to town for a haircut and would be back soon. We kept being told he was on his way, but he didn't return until after 6 pm. The TV wasn't working, and although he got it on that evening, there was no sound. I managed to fix it myself on Monday evening. People checking in also had trouble at the gate because the bell didn't work. Twice I had to go upstairs to tell the caretaker's wife someone was waiting, which disturbed us. At about 5 pm on our arrival day, I switched on the stove and all the lights went out about a minute later. The caretaker's wife got an electric shock while trying to turn them back on. I called head office, and they sent an electrician, but he couldn't come straight away because the caretaker had to pick him up. He restored the lights, but the stove still didn't work. He lifted the hob and found it soaking wet underneath, then said he'd bring a new one at 9 am the next day. He didn't arrive until about noon and had no new hob. Instead, he used our hairdryer to dry it. Eventually two plates worked and we could finally cook proper food. My mother had an upset stomach the night before after not eating properly, and our early beach plans had to wait because the electrician was late. My aunt tried to shower on the morning of the 8th, but the water was cold. She had to wait hours for it to heat up again. We were told two geysers served twenty people, and the problem came and went throughout our stay. We also had noisy people in the apartment above us. We live with upstairs neighbours at home and came to Apostle Rocks hoping for a break from that noise, but it was worse.

The place could use some TLC.
