Shops are only about a five-minute walk away, with the beach and churches nearby too. Residents can join a weekly craft activity, and a hairdresser visits regularly. A nurse also comes once a week to check blood pressure and other minor health concerns. It's a rather nice retirement place, with good facilities and infrastructure, plus friendly, helpful care attendants.
I've had a Life Right Agreement since I bought one three months after The Avenue Retirement Hotel opened in September 2013, and I've never regretted it. It feels like home without the lifetime hassles of owning a home. One fixed monthly levy covers what you need to run the place: three meals, daily room cleaning, rates, electricity, water, and waste collection. There's a generator for load-shedding, too. I think it's a really good deal. A Residents' Committee also represents residents' interests and oversees the finances.
I've been living here for around two years and am very happy with it. My flat has two rooms and a computer corner, and the staff are really nice. I have no complaints. Since having a stroke about a year ago, I don't go out anymore. Thank you very much.
The manager is friendly and very open, and seems to know what each guest needs. The staff are attentive and know their stuff.
