Banksia Boutique

The food was a letdown for me. Breakfast had an okay selection, but neither the choices nor the taste impressed me. The sausages and bacon tasted strange, and the quality seemed poor. Room service had only three bacon or ham sandwiches on offer. It would be nice if they added something simple, like a salad or chicken and chips. There were good parts: the exterior and indoor pool area are beautiful and peaceful, the hotel itself was calm, and the staff were friendly and helpful. But check your room view before booking. Mine was on the ground floor with no pleasant view, and workers walking around the grounds could see in when the curtains were open. Not every room has a bathtub either, so check if that's something you want. I may have expected too much after reading the great reviews. It was a nice enough stay, but it didn't feel luxurious enough to justify paying a premium when there are so many other options nearby. I wouldn't go back, and I'd rate it 3.5/5, not five stars.

The room itself was beautiful, especially if you like a vintage look like I do. If you prefer modern style, the banksia probably isn't for you. I had a Mountain View room, though the hotel's residential setting meant the view wasn't the best. I took my wedding photos there at sunset, and the lack of lighting was a problem. There was no lighting inside or outside, so the parking area, garden front, pool, and balcony were all completely dark. The hotel felt gloomy after sunset, and there was no generator in the rooms for loadshedding. On the positive side, the service was swift and amazing. Thanks to the management.

Breakfast and a pool sit beneath a huge atrium in this fascinating, quirky building. The rooms are large too.

We loved our visit and would happily come back. This little boutique hotel is easy to get to, with a stunning indoor pool and garden, plus a magnificent wooden staircase. The host was so friendly and always ready to help. I'd highly recommend it for photo shoots as well.
