Breakfast was a lovely, calm start before heading out to see Cape Town, and the staff were attentive and delightful throughout. Dorian was an absolute legend, with brilliant tours and a great host's touch. We stayed at the newly named Cactusberry Guest House, where our gorgeous room could have had its own Instagram account. The Table Mountain views from the upstairs terrace were showing off. Such a homely place, we’re already plotting a return.

There’s always something fresh to discover at Cactusberry Lodge in Oranjezicht, Cape Town. Dorian and his team keep the place spotless and comfortable, with a style that keeps changing through creative touches, local artists, and homegrown products. Every visit makes me curious about what they’ll add next. They can arrange tailored walks and experiences, from easy or moderate walks to culinary and food focused outings, with optional 4x4 driven trips too. Book ahead, and Dorian can help shape the itinerary to suit your stay.

The rooms feel very high end for a guesthouse, and the place is in a safe, fairly central neighbourhood. Dorian and his staff were kind and really helpful. I’d recommend staying here.

We first stayed at Cactusberry for a night, then came back later for three more, which says a lot. The central spot makes Cape Town’s sights easy to reach, with Table Mountain right above, and getting to or from the airport is straightforward. The parking and building felt very secure. There’s also a comfortable lounge and an outdoor area for relaxing between outings. For the longer visit we had the two room premium suite, and it was great. Both the lounge and bedroom were spacious and comfortable, and we liked having an evening drink on the private balcony. I’d recommend it if you’re there for a few days. Dorian and the staff were friendly and ready with answers and local suggestions. There’s an Italian restaurant an easy walk away through a safe area. It gets busy, so ask Dorian for the details if you like to plan. I didn’t take photos, but the ones on booking.com are accurate. Thanks for having us. We’ll be back if we return to Cape Town.

A local Capetonian runs this lodge and really puts your safety first. He’s friendly and knows the area well, and the lodge can help plan a whole South African trip so you get to see the best of SA. There’s also a luxury 7-seater 4x4 for tailored day trips from Cape Town, including West Coast National Park, Cape Point, the Winelands, fishing trips, and more. A great place to set off on a South African adventure, whatever you’re into 👍😉
