Cape Diamond Boutique Hotel

The property felt peaceful and safe, and it’s well placed near attractions, restaurants, and transport. My room was clean, comfortable, well kept, and had everything I needed to relax. From arrival, the staff were warm and ready to help. Their service and professionalism made the stay enjoyable. I’ll definitely return and recommend it to anyone after good value and a comfortable, stress-free stay.

We’d booked four nights at Cape Diamond Boutique Hotel through an Exoticca package, as part of a group of about 18. After a 13-hour journey from Kruger to Johannesburg and then a flight to Cape Town, we arrived at 9.30pm. Check-in came with the news that the restaurant had just closed and there was nowhere open to get food. Our first room had blood on the toilet seat and a strong drain smell. The bedside drawers kept opening and wouldn’t shut, so we had to climb over them to get into bed. The electrical charging points didn’t work either. We asked to move to a room that worked better, but were told it couldn’t happen until the next day. The replacement room was the same standard and had fewer problems, though its bathroom blind didn’t work. A multi-storey car park across the way was at the same level, giving people there a perfect view of us using the bathroom. There was no water in the room. We asked three times and got profuse apologies, but no water until our fourth day. On day two, housekeeping collected our used towels and left no replacements, so we had to go to reception again. Dinner was supposed to run from 7.00pm to 9.30pm, if the staff decided to turn up. At 7.15pm on our final night, two other couples were seated in the restaurant and no staff were around. The receptionist said the chef was late. The staff tried to be nice, but seemed untrained and unable to run a hotel. This was our fifth Exoticca holiday in three years, and our earlier trips had always had high hotel standards and professional staff. This was by far our worst hotel experience, and it makes us question whether we’d choose Exoticca again. Definitely one to avoid.

The rooftop views of table mountain and the city were amazing, and the location right in the city was perfect. I’ve stayed at many hotels, but this is easily the best for customer service and the rooms. I arrived hours before check-in, and they stored my luggage while I explored, then let me check in early. Everyone was friendly, with a great sense of community among the employees. They made me feel at home and helped with everything I needed. I’ll be back for sure.

Five stars all the way for the service, the product, and the whole experience. The receptionists were great, answered all our questions, and the staff were very helpful. Kevin Davids took care of our bags. He’s a great young guy. We’ll be coming back, and I’ll recommend them to everyone I know. Thank you so much.
