Cape Heritage Hotel

The location made it easy to walk to shops, restaurants, and other attractions, and I loved the art on the walls and the gallery at the front of the hotel. Our room was comfortable and spacious, the lobby was beautiful, and breakfast was delicious. The people here made our four nights in Cape Town even more special. If I come back, I’m staying here again. Thanks to all the staff for making the experience so wonderful.

Breakfast was one of the best parts of our visit. We sat beneath the oldest fruit-bearing grape vine in the Southern hemisphere, enjoying a huge meal and a delicious cuppacino served by the friendly staff. My daughter and I stayed just one night, and the hotel ticked every box. The historic building is well maintained, with photo's that take you back in time. Our clean, beautiful air-conditioned room had very comfortable beds and pillows. Everyone was extremely welcoming and helpful from arrival. There’s safe parking, and it’s an easy walk to the V&A Waterfront and Bo-Kaap. We can recommend it and will definitely be back.

The apartment’s location at the back of the building means it can’t be reached internally from the hotel. In the two-bedroom unit, the first-floor master bedroom overlooks M62, and traffic noise made it virtually impossible to sleep. The sound insulation is appalling. Hot water is limited, so when four people shower in quick succession, the last person gets cold water. Given that, I’m not sure why there’s a bathtub in the master bathroom. The second bedroom has no windows and only a tiny bathroom, while the living room balcony looks out over nearby rooftops and feels like a sad space. Housekeeping needs work too: the refrigerator was absolutely filthy. The hotel itself may be fine, but I’d strongly advise against booking the apartments. On the positive side, Samantha at the front desk was fabulous, super friendly, and willing to help however she could. Domingo, their third-party tour operator, was excellent as well. We did the vineyards tour and whale watching with him. All things considered, we won’t be returning to this properly.
