Cresta Grande Cape Town

After a day out, we’d come back to a spotless room, with the bed made, fresh towels, and a nice clean smell. We stayed seven nights and thoroughly enjoyed it. The staff were welcoming and friendly throughout. The location is excellent, about a five-minute walk from Long Street, where we could catch the Red Bus and take in Cape Town’s beautiful views. Highly recommended.

The staff were excellent, and the bed was comfortable, but the room had a bad smell, possibly from the carpet or curtains. The curtains were dirty, and after a busy day that smell hit as soon as we opened the door. The aircon made it worse. The pillows were too hard, and the food was just okay. We stayed six nights, from 27 December to 2nd January. The location is perfect.

The room at Cresta Grande was huge and cleaned to a high standard every day. Breakfast was good, with enough changes to the options and plenty we liked. Drink prices were very reasonable, and the staff were warm, friendly, and incredibly helpful. They’re a real credit to the hotel. My wife and I spent two weeks there and loved using it as a base to explore CT and other parts of South Africa. The central location was ideal for many of the main sights. We walked around at night and, although there are homeless people in Cape Town, we never felt uneasy. We just ignored them politely and were fine. The pool was still cold, but refreshing on hot days. We’d absolutely stay again.

The reception guys were attentive and friendly, but I won’t be staying here again. The room was old, dirty, and smelly, and the towels and sheets always had dirt or stains. The pillow felt like a bag and was very uncomfortable. Music from the bar opposite our room was extremely loud until 04 am every day. The hotel is in a dangerous area, and walking at night is dangerous. Breakfast had few choices, and they were the same every day. All four elevators were very slow. On my last day, a man helped us put our luggage on the bus, then made malicious comments like, “Are you leaving me today?” and “When will you come back here?” I’d never seen this employee at the hotel before. I would have listed his name if he’d been wearing a name tag. The hotel should be more mindful about hiring men who feel free to speak to women like this. Never again.
