The place has charm, a good location, and plenty of potential, but the staff seemed unaware of how much was wrong in the rooms and couldn’t really help beyond bringing toilet paper and soap. I tried both a dorm and a private room. The two-bed dorm was dark and stuffy, had no lockers, and when I raised concerns I only got a shrug and “sorry.” The shared bathroom didn’t lock, despite being the only toilet and shower serving three rooms. The private room looked better at first, and the bed itself was super ok, but much of the furniture seemed like it had come from a scrapyard. The chair at the desk was missing screws and basically broke the first time I sat on it. Doors swung open in even a slight breeze unless locked, and the ceiling fan didn’t work. There was no soap in the bathroom or kitchen. The kitchen had only the bare basics and no dish towels, making it harder to cook for myself. Toilet paper ran out too, even though room service had set up the neighboring room for incoming guests.

I kept extending my stay because this hostel felt more like family than just a place to sleep. Spending over a week at Curiocity gave me an authentic Cape experience I won’t forget soon. Manager Carol, the housekeepers, and everyone else were so kind and helpful, and did everything they could to make me feel at home. I really appreciate all they did for me.

Carol’s warm welcome and kindness made our stay memorable. He was always ready to help, and the whole team were attentive and generous. The hotel is right in the center, so restaurants, shops, and local attractions are easy to reach. Our room was spacious, clean, and well equipped. There’s also a terrace with a lovely view, a great spot to relax at the end of the day. Thanks so much to Carol and the team for their professionalism. I’d definitely come back, the atmosphere was amazing.

We booked one night on Hostel World on the day we arrived and were pleasantly surprised to get upgraded to a private room with a huge double bed. Carol welcomed us, showed us the room, and was really kind and helpful. The hostel is right on Kloof Street and it was quiet while we were there. We’d definitely recommend it!

The staff were really friendly and helpful, and the security was top notch. My room was spacious and clean. I did find the shared bathroom door having no lock a bit odd, and the original wood floors, though beautiful, were so slippery that I fell more than once. Noise from the nearby restaurant was also very loud.
