De Tafelberg Guesthouse

Breakfast was generous, with some unusual options, and egg dishes were cooked fresh to order. It was laid out with care on the kitchen counter, which made the mornings feel homey. The open dining area and terrace look out over the city and sea, while the pool faces Table Mountain. The lobby and dining room also have a well-equipped shared kitchen and an Honesty Bar. We spent three great days at Tafelberg Guesthouse, a great base for seeing Cape Town. Thania gave us a very friendly welcome and showed us to our lovely rooms by the pool. The rooms, lobby and dining area are beautifully furnished, with lots of attention to detail. By car, the city or waterfront takes 5-10 minutes depending on traffic. We loved the location, the guesthouse, breakfast and the friendly staff, and would happily come back.

Breakfast was the one thing I really enjoyed. The room was clean, but the heating barely did the job and it was cold in the morning. We asked the hostess for extra blankets, but she forgot. She was friendly, though she seemed distracted. I was disappointed that she couldn't tell us about the Table Mountain entrances. With a place called Tafelberg Guesthouse, I expected at least a map or some brochures. We expected a bit more from our stay.

We had trouble with a delayed flight, and the woman at the guesthouse helped us a lot. Thanks again! The breakfast was tasty and more than we could eat, and there’s a fridge where you can buy beer, water, soft drinks and wine. We came from Namibia and spent the last few days of our holiday in Cape Town. My wife booked two nights here, and our upstairs room looked out over the bay. The room was lovely and we felt very comfortable. We got a warm welcome and a clear explanation of how things worked, and the view was outstanding. The area felt safe. We walked to Kloof Street in the evening, and after the rugby final the walk back at night also felt safe and comfortable. We can definitely recommend this accommodation.

Thania was a superstar, and the hospitality was wonderful. The view and location were amazing, with a bakery an easy walk away. The guesthouse has very little heating, but they provided extra blankets. Just be aware that it's on a very, very steep hill if you're walking around the neighborhood. Such a quaint place. We'll definitely stay again when we return.
