The hosts were great, and breakfast and service were both wonderful. It’s a lovely spot, with Cape Town’s sights close enough to reach while still feeling a little removed from the city. We had a lovely time and highly recommend staying here.

We were so sorry to leave Devonport House after three restful days. The owners, Jacques and Jenn, were a delight, and all the staff looked after us so well. It’s a gorgeous Georgian-style villa with vineyard views, birdsong and blue skies in the morning, plus a huge bedroom and a very comfortable bed. The pool was immaculate, great for a swim or a bit of relaxing. Everything felt thought through, from the coffee machine in the room and big pool towels to the spotless rooms, daily cake, complimentary tea and coffee, honesty bar and even the ice machine. I wish we’d booked the whole week. I can’t recommend it enough for a Cape Town visit.

Jacques and his team, Prudence and Grant, gave us a very warm welcome. Jacques also had plenty of helpful advice for seeing Cape Town. The hotel has a real family feel, which we appreciated, and one evening Jacques and a friend invited us to join their braai. It’s in a peaceful neighborhood, with lovely views of the city, Table Mountain and Devil's Peak. The rooms are nicely decorated, and the staff are very kind. A wonderful place to stay in Cape Town.

Jenn and Jacques made us feel safe and at home, and their staff were just as thoughtful. If we return to the Mothercity, Devonport House would be our first choice. The view across the Cape flatlands towards the Blouberge is stunning, with only Table Mountain or Signal Hill topping it. There’s plenty here, including a large pool, pool billiard, easy-to-use coffee machines, roomy bedrooms and a lively garden where Louis the peacock hangs out. Breakfast was lovingly prepared when we asked, using top-quality ingredients. We didn’t feel anything was missing.

The best part of the stay might be their very friendly dog, Noodle, though you’ll also enjoy chatting with Jaques and Lynn. They’re warm hosts, and the room was spotless, with five-star comfort and lovely attention to detail. The Table Mountain view is special, and the breakfast they make is delicious. They’d only been open for six months when I stayed, so don’t be put off if there aren’t many reviews yet. They’re sure to go places!
