Watching the sunsets through the wall of windows, with a glass of wine from around the corner, was a lovely way to unwind. The cosy apartment is well equipped and has a bay view. It’s a great base in Cape Town, with the centre and Camps Bay nearby, minigolf right opposite the front door, and two nice restaurants close by. Don’t miss ordering ostrich. A couple of things could be clearer for guests: the host should mention scheduled power cuts, and we needed instructions for the gas heater because the apartment got cold in the evening and we didn’t know how to use it.

The apartment could be stunning, but the hygiene and pest control were seriously lacking. I swept up dust balls and hair left by previous guests, and cockroaches were everywhere at night. I got rid of five very large ones in the main bedroom in a single night, with many more running across the floors. It was scary and awful, and really spoiled the place’s beauty.
