Homey Apartment at the Greenmarket Square

Table Mountain was right on our doorstep, and staying in cental Capetown meant V and A waterfront was only a few kilometres away. The apartment had a striking view and room for four, with two bathrooms, a kitchen, dining area and outer balcony. It also has historical significance. It could be a lovely place, but the quality and upkeep made our stay uncomfortable, and we won't return or recommend it to family or friends. The bathrooms weren't properly maintained or cleaned: floor tiles were dirty, grout had mildew and built-up grime, and the showers had the same cleanliness problems. On our first night we were so uncomfortable that we bought antibacterial detergents and sprayed both bathrooms. The main bathroom shower head was broken, and both bathroom sinks were missing drain covers. The main bedroom toilet seat was broken, and the second bathroom walls were badly stained. The furniture was outdated and in terrible condition. There was an old dining table, chairs with frayed seats, and overused covers that had worn away. The lounge curtains were torn and worn out. In the room, the curtains were hooked up untidily, were the wrong size, and seemed poorly maintained and cleaned. Doors were broken, and the walls had stains and patches over a single layer of paint. In the kitchen, only one globe worked in the lights, the extractor fan was grimy, and the bin had no lid, attracting more flies and pests. Management was practically nonexistent during our 7-day stay, and our few interactions left much to be desired. I messaged the agent about Netflix not being updated and got no further details. The account needed a payment update, so we essentially had no Netflix for the long stay. I also raised the lack of refuse removal, extra toilet rolls and clean towels, which weren't provided as listed on the Lekketslaap site. The agent replied, "Good morning, We offer a complementary one midstay clean for guest staying for 7 days and above". We had paid for cleaning, but it was never delivered. When I reported a broken dining room chair and a broken plastic patio chair, the agent said she hadn't known and that previous guests had most probably broken them. Why weren't the chairs checked after guests left?
