We spent 10 nights here and had a great stay. The service was great, everything was clean and neat, and the views are amazing.

We booked an Airbnb property owned or managed by Home Meets Hotel on July 1, 2025. Within a week, a tap stopped working. We reported it right away. A plumber eventually came, but we were later told the repair would cost R6,000. That seemed highly inflated and suspicious for ordinary maintenance, especially since we hadn't caused the problem. There were also kitchen issues that left us unable to prepare food, so we had to cook elsewhere and pay extra. The host responded with hostility and blame instead of helping or taking responsibility. Helen, the owner or co-owner, then accused us of causing damage. First she said we owed R20,000, then a few days later raised it to R35,000. Most recently, she filed an R8,600 claim with Airbnb, which seemed intended to cancel out our valid refund request for R8,930. After we left, she even tampered with the toilet paper holder to try to blame us. Luckily, we'd taken detailed photos at checkout because we expected she might use dishonest tactics. As four Black men, we felt racially profiled, treated with suspicion, and judged unfairly throughout our stay, despite following the house rules and leaving the property in excellent condition. To us, this was a deliberate, coordinated campaign of deception, made worse by the discriminatory treatment. We also found that Shedrack Mapondo, who works for Home Meets Hotel, has posted positive Airbnb reviews for the company. That is a clear conflict of interest and misleads guests who depend on honest reviews when booking. We're still owed R8,930, and are escalating the matter to the Consumer Protector and Public Protector for investigation and accountability.

We booked a long-term stay of 2-3 months. It's an upmarket place, and I strongly recommend it for holiday bookings.

The building needs major repairs, and nights were very noisy. There were people hanging around who I didn't feel comfortable being with.

Being right by the beach, with sea views and an open balcony where you can sit outside and enjoy the breeze, is a big plus. Horizon Bay runs on a self-service basis, which gives you flexibility and independence. It feels like a lovely beachfront option for a romantic trip, family holiday, or just a relaxing break, and I'd rate it 4.8 out of 5. What brought the score down by 0.2 stars was the lack of cleaning service. We stayed for five days and felt they should have cleaned at least once, even if the fee had been added to the overall price.
